        1. Lab Experiment
          1. 39 participants
            1. Both male and female
              1. Aged between 18 and 55
            2. Volunteer/self selected
              1. Answered a newspaper advert and were paid
            3. PROCEDURE
              1. Particiapants were ordered to harass a an apparent 'job applicant' (CONFEDERATE)
                1. This was to make he/she nervous whilst sitting a test
                  1. The test determined whether they would get the job
                  2. RESULTS
                    1. 92% obeyed/disturbed/critisiced when told to do so by the researcher
                      1. Agentic state
                      2. 4% believed that it was a hoax
                        1. 96% believed they were dealing with a real situation
                        2. They reported that they 'intensely disliked' making the stress marks
                        3. CONCLUSION
                          1. The majority of the participants obey an authority figure (researcher)
                            1. Even though it was designed to harm another
                            2. Obedience was higher than Milgrams study
                              1. Easier to obey orders to use psychological violence than physical
