      • Answer- Try not to assess them on more than three items at a time. Suggestions- oral reports, written assignments and portfolios

        Annotations:

        • Although an ELL student may master academic language, it is important that we teach them other ways of thinking and problem solving such as knowledge comprehension, application, analysis, and synthesis of given information.
        1. Big Idea #3 One lump of language or two?

          Annotations:

          • Traditional assessment plus authentic assessment=sweet! A multiple choice test accompanied by role playing or retelling stories. Perhaps a t/f quiz accompanied by a debate or reading with partners.
    2. Big Idea #5 Evaluate

      Annotations:

      • Students should be evaluated based on the stipulated criterion that you have already established for an assignment. Are the criterion concise and related to the task?
