Programming languages

  1. integrated development environment

  2. D- Debugger I- Interpreter C- Compiler E- Editing

    • Debugger- A program within the IDE that is used to detect errors, it also suggests how to fix these errors and mentions what line the bugged code is on.
    • Editor- The main part of the IDE that edits and writes the code, colour codes key words, autocompletes code.
  3. IDEs provide programmers with lots of handy tools when they're coding.

  4. Compiler

    • A compiler takes the source code and translates it into machine code, it is then saved and can be run again and again.
      • Does produce a final set of source code and the machine code is saved separately to the high level code.
        • Low level
  5. interpreter

    • An interpreter translates the program line by line into machine code as the program is running.
      • Doesn't create a final set of source code.
        • An example of an interpreter is python.
          • High Level
  6. Opcode

    • Tells the processor the job that needs to be done.
      • Each opcode is limited in what it can tell the processor to do.
        • Opcode is the instructions.
    • Operand
      • It specifies the data that needs to be acted on.
        • Operand is the data.
  7. Assembly Code

    • Low level
      • Mnemonics- shortened instructions
        • e.g- STA= Store, HLT= Halt, LDA=Load.
