  1. Simplifying
    1. If it is not a perfect square make a factor tree put yourchioces in what is called a hut and simplify.
      1. To simplfy find the square root of the number in the hut
      2. Adding and Subtracting
        1. For subtracting rewrite the radical in simplest form
          1. You must simplify when the radicals are not the same number then just add
            1. Add the outside numbers together when the radicals are the same
            2. Breakdown your square root. If you have a pair of numbers, move the numbers to the outside of the hut and multiply the remaining numbers together to make a new square root
              1. When multiplying multiply the ones on the inside and the ones on the outside together
