Simplifying
- If it is not a perfect square make a factor tree put yourchioces in what is called a hut and simplify.
- To simplfy find the square root of the number in the hut
Adding and Subtracting
- For subtracting rewrite the radical in simplest form
- You must simplify when the radicals are not the same number then just add
- Add the outside numbers together when the radicals are the same
Breakdown your square root. If you have a pair of numbers, move the numbers to the outside of the hut and multiply the remaining numbers together to make a new square root
When multiplying multiply the ones on the inside and the ones on the outside together
