Investigation- Interface design for effective communication.
Age
- Games console interfaces are used by young children up to people a lot older. Due to this its useful to have a children's safety option so parents can change the settings, this means their kids are unable to play video games for older people or access websites that aren't suitable for their age. Older people also work at a slower rate so options to slow down certain options to facilitate their age is useful.
Experience
- They need to take into account that some users may have not used gaming software much in the future. This means tutorial systems and a simple interface that's easy for parents and children to use.
Physical characteristics
- All options must be accessible for people with different disabilities. For example colour blindness mode can help people differentiate colours so they can use the software more efficiently and effectively. Another setting to help facilitate different characteristics is large buttons that are easy to see so everyone can get to settings to adjust them for their certain problem.
Environment of use
- The console must have a brightness changer so people can see it in a range of different environments. For example a country or room where it is very bright may cause the screen to be very hard to see.
Task to be undertaken
- Games all need to have difficulty sliders so people are able beat the game. The main menu of the system must also have a range of options so users can set it up to their will making the system easy to get around according to their preferences.
