IDE:
- Editor
- Allows the user to enter the program. As well as this it colour codes the keywords. Also it auto completes code as you type.
- Compiler/Interpreter
- This translates the source code (Code you've written) into machine code, for example; binary.
- Debugger
- A debugger points out errors, then suggests how to fix it.
- Editor
High Level Code
- Uses interpreters and compilers, designed for humans to understand.
- For example: Python, Javascript and Scratch.
- Uses interpreters and compilers, designed for humans to understand.
Machine Code
- Machine code is made up of hexidecimal instructions designed for computers to understand.
- For example: Hexidecimal, Binary and Assembly code.
- Hexadecimal
- Hexadecimal values: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F
- There are 16 values (16-Base) in hexadecimal, therefore to convert hexadecimal number to denary.
- Its simpler to remember large numbers in hex as they're far shorter than binary numbers.

- Hexadecimal values: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F
- Assembly Code
- Shortened command words such as “LDA”, “DAT”, “ADD” and “OUT”.
- Binary
- When converting denary into hexadecimal you have to split the binary numbers into nibbles (4's)
- After that you have to add up each nibble which makes up the hexadecimal number.

Networks
- LAN
- Computers which are connected together over a small geographical area.
- Advantages
- You can share files to people who are connected
- You can log onto any computer/ device connected
- WAN
- Computers which are connected together over a large geographical area
- Additional Hardware:
- Switch: this enables all of the computers to connect to the network
- Access Point: Extends the wireless signal, allowing files to be shared and accessed from a longer distance.
- Server: The files and logins can be accessed from a central point.

- Switch: this enables all of the computers to connect to the network
- Client Server network
- The information and files are stored on the server and arent on the computer which allows anyone with a user account to logon on any device.

Software
- Functions of an operating system
- User Interface
- Security
- Peripheral Management
- Memory Management
- Multi-Tasking
- File Management
- Utility Programs
- Anti-Virus
- Scans your system files for malicious software.
- System Cleanup
- Searches for and deletes files/programs no longer used, for example; Temporary files and Installation files.
- Diagnosis Utility
- Attempts to detect/resolve items that are not working correctly
- Disk formatting
- Deletes all files from your hard drive, including system, programs and files.
- Firewall
- Controls access to the computer through the network.
- System Information
- Displays important information about the current state of the computer.
- Automatic Update
- Checks the manufacturers website on the internet and checks/installs the new versions.
- Disk Defragmenter
- Moves files around that all parts of a file are stored together.
