4b- Limitations of ICT
  1. Battery Power
    1. Size of battery in portable device is restricted
      1. Hard disk drive with moving parts need more power than new Solid state devices, but SSD cannot store as much
        1. O- Solar powered chargers.
        2. Bandwidth and connectivity
          1. Wireless networks have restriction in how much and how far data can travel
            1. Only people in big cities or with expensive data plans can access super high bandwidths
          2. Size
            1. Smaller devices may not display normal webpages effectively
              1. Different mobile versions of sites, or apps have to be developed, costing money.
                1. could use holograph or head up display in the future
                  1. Small on keyboards may cause mistakes, slowing data entry.
                  2. Small devices restrict battery size
                    1. Devices such as storage, processors, memory, printed circuit boards and other devices are becoming smaller.
                    2. Processing power
                      1. Can limit how fast a device can work and how many tasks it can get through
                        1. e.g. It has taken years to analyse the human DNA to find every gene
                        2. O- Processing chips getting smaller means, mobiles today are more powerful than the largest computers 10 years ago
                          1. Major IT companies still need MASSIVE computers to do their processing.
                        3. Memory
                          1. Limits the amount of data that can be stored at any one time
                            1. RAM can limit how fast a computer can run multiple applications at the same time
                              1. O- SSD's are becoming cheaper with higher capacities
                                1. O- Current improvements in compression techniques
                                2. Hardware/Software
                                  1. Certain tasks can't be done because the hardware and software needed for it doesn't exist yet.
                                    1. Software and equipment are constantly being developed.
                                    2. People
                                      1. May be unwilling to, or lack the ability to use new technology
                                        1. People do not see the technology as necessary, or think it might be used against them.
                                          1. Can prevent mass roll-out of new tech.
