          • Duncan - "True, worthy Banquo"

  2. KEY CHARACTER EVENTS:

    • 1) Act 1, Scene 3: Duncan and Macbeth come across the witches. The witches tell Banquo he will sire a line of kings but never become one
    • 2) Act 2, scene 1: Macbeth meets Banquo out walking and test his loyalty to him
    • 3) Act 3, Scene 1: Banquo suspects Macbeth is behind Duncan's death. Macbeth plot his death
    • 4) Act 3, Scene 3: Banquo is attacked and killed by Macbeth's hired murderers but his son Fleance escapes
    • 5) Act 3, Scene 4: Banquo's ghost appears to macbeth at the banquet
  3. MY OPINIO

    • In my opinion, Banquo acts as a physical representation of Macbeth's conscience. He warns him not to trust the witches or to act on their words at they are bound to lead to misfortune. It is only after Banqou is killed on Macbeth's orders that any trace of remorse or guilt for killing people the Macbeth once felt dies with him. It is almost at if Macbeth were standing on the edge of ruin with only Banquo to hold him back from falling into it entirely, with banquo dead there is no only to stop him from falling
