Atoms and Ions

1. An atom is made up of the same type of element that aren't chemically bonded together.

2. An ion is an atom that has either losed or gained an electron, giving it either a positive or negative charge

3. A compound is made up of more than one type of element that are chemically bonded together.

4. A mixture is made up of more than one type of element with some that are chemically bonded together and some that aren't.

5. 'LIMP - Losing it makes positive' when an atom loses an electron, the charge on the ion then becomes positive, so when an atom gains an electron, the charge on that ion will become negative.
