INTRODUCTION

In this summary your will learn and explore the various methodologies that can be incorporated in the teaching vocabulary items in a language classroom, also what are the characteristics, activities about teaching vocabulary.

TEACHING VOCABULARY

Teaching vocabulary is a way to improve student´s abilities because they build their vocabulary and develop strategies to learn it on their own.

Vocabulary can be defined as the words of a language where the students need to know if it is a verb, a noun, an adjective, etc. because they should them i a effectively way. We as teacher should create activities to help students to learn and improve their vocabulary.

The pronunctiation can be particularly problematic for learners of English because sometimes there is not clarity how a word is written and how it is pronounced. It is very important to use the phonemic script for the students ve a clear written record of the pronunciation of the given vocabulary.

It is advisable to clarify the pronunciation before showing the written form. Sometimes the vocabularies are imparted by translation, it is an erroneous practice because it causes confusion to the students. The teacher should try to get the meaning to the class without using translation. The English teachers should be innovative and proficient in the application of methodologies pertaining to teaching vocabulary items in a classroom because our students learn of different ways and they need to recognize, pronounce and practice it every day.

LISTENING CAREFULLY, it is a good option in teaching vocabulary items because the students hear the word in isolation and in a sentence. If the sounds of the words have been mastered, the students will hear it correctly with two or three repetitions.

PRONOUNCING THE WORD, it is a effective way to teach vocabulary because the students identify , see, hear and pronounce it.

There are different activities that we can implement in class to teach vocabulary, for example:

DRAMATIZATION, SING A SONG, SHOW & TELL, READING THE WORD, WRITING THE WORD, ILLUSTRATIVE SENTENCES, REALIA AND OTHER.

It is advisable to show them models or real objects because they can learn through them, and it is very effective in teaching vocabulary.

CONCLUSION

We as teacher should always show our students ethusiasm in finding, learning and understanding new words, also search, implement new metodologies and activities in class because the students learn in different ways, but also it depends of understanding and intest of the learners.
