Impacts
of a young population: (gsgsgs=bad impacts…gsgsgs=
positive impacts)
Social-
·
Services like healthcare and education
can’t cope with the rapid increase
·
Children have to work to help support
their large families
·
There aren’t enough houses for
everyone, so people are forced to live in makeshift houses
·
There are food shortages if the
country can’t grow or import enough food
Economical-
·
Young
children need health care - for example, immunisations. This is expensive for a
country to provide.
·
Young
people need to be educated - providing schools and teachers are expensive.
Resources for lessons are difficult to access, and costly to buy.
·
In the
future, more children will reach child bearing age, putting more pressure on
the health service.
·
There’s
increased poverty because more people are born into families that are already
poor and have no jobs
·
More young
people working means staff with short hours
·
There
would be a future aging population
·
There is
enough young people to support the people who are relying on taxes/retired
Political-
·
Government
are not able to finance growing population or provide work for them
·
The
government has to make policies to bring population growth under control
·
There
would be a future aging population
·
Less
retired people depending on tax benefits so the government don’t have to pay
out money
·
There are
fewer older people so pensions become less important to the government
·
Most of
the population is made up of young people so the government focuses on policies
important to the young.
