Database is a collection of related data in which you can also edit and modify the data.
database management system
Database management system is a software in which u can create, edit and modify the data from a database.
It is based on data models such as network , heirarchecal and relational.
Relational database management system
A RDBMS is a relational data model in which it stores data in the form of tables.
eg. 1. oracle
2. microsoft SQL server
ADVANTAGES OF A DATABASE
1. Reduced data redundancy-
It Stores data at a single place instead of Storing the same data at multiple places.
The duplication of the data is known as data redundancy.
Thus, DBMS reduces data redundancy by storing it at a centralised place.
2. Reduced Update on errors and Increased Data Consistency
When u store multiple files at different Locations There is a chance that modifications cannot be carried out.
The mismatching copies of the same data is known as data inconsistency.
DMBS stores the data at the centralised location . Thus it Updates its errors and ensure there is data consistency.
3. Improved access to the users
A DBMS Stores data at a centralised location and facilates the sharing of data among users according to the user's requirements.
For example, people from all over the world can access the database used for booking railway tickets.
4. Improved data security
User ID's take various levels of security when it is created.
Users have limited rights and permissions
only authorised users can edit and create and modify database.
unauthorised users might be only permitted to view the database.
5. Maintaining standards
Every data should have its own standards or national/international standards.
It ensures data integrity.
