What's on the test? True and False Multiple choices Short answers   Conduction - contact of energy through touch Radiation- electromagnetic rays that  transfer- sun (lights, oven, fire, people) - doesn't need to be any particles of matter Convection - The transfer of heat through the liquid - Boiling pot (heat at the bottom, then rotates)   Conduction and Convection- Conduct is through solids, and Convection is through a liquid   Can energy be transferred without matter? No, because there's nothing to touch What if the earth is unevenly heated? It causes Convection   Light, UV (damages cells), Inferred (Warms up skin, causes burns but doesn't feel hot), Turns into thermal energy)   Why is house cold even if they have heating systems on? It's not Insulated Properly (Door, Window, Floor, Wall, Attic, Vents and cables are all example    Boiling pot is convection Hamburger is conduction  Sun's energy is Radiation   4 objects (paper, aluminum foil, sink, counter) - Which one will get hottest first? The counter will get hottest first because the counter is black and dark objects get hotter fast   Dark gets hotter than Light Why do our feet burn when we walk on the pavement- Because the pavement is dark so it absorbs the suns radiation quickly. (walking on the yellow line on the road will be cooler because yellow is a lighter color)   Why is it warmer in the daytime than nighttime? Because in the daytime, the sun is out so the radiation rays toward the earth and at night the sun goes away so there is no more radiation
