In-Class Activity:

1. What are my goals for this class?

My goal is to be able to understand how to differentiate between different articles on the same topic and determine which ones have more meaning in our practice and which ones have a more sound methodology and approach. I also want to feel confident using research articles to back up my clinical decision making and using them as evidence to change things up to my supervisors

2. What are my barriers to achieving these goals?

I will need to really invest the time and energy during class and outside of class to nail down these ideas. This isn't the most interesting class to me so it will definitely take more from me to understand and retain the information.

Stratified sampling- classifying people by a characteristic and then uses an algorithm to pick people from the sample

Random sampling- the one we want most often

random assignment- random assignment to tx group

Systematic sampling

Organizing Data:

Three types of distribution tables

Rank order distribution

presents a quick view of spread of variability

easy to identify highest and lowest scores

Usually used when the N is relatively small

Simple frequency distribution

When number of cases is larger than will fit on one page

Grouped frequency distribution

tells you how many people score in a range

Kurtic= curve

Normal curve- mean median and mode all share middle of curve
