TEXT 8 -
BEEF STROGANOFF
Text 8 is an advert persuading you to buy Bisto Gravy.
Written as a pastiche almost mocking recipes. - 'Magnifique!' - seems over the top and exaggerated.
The graphology of this text is the main focus and attraction along with the simple lexis 'pop' 'then'. Both the onomatopoeia and the structured stages support the initial statement of being a 'fool proof' method to make Beef Stroganoff.
Connotations of family - 'Serves 4' this creates the idea that it can be made conveniently, even for a busy mother.
Semantics of a recipe - ingredients list with metric and imperial measures. Followed by a structured lexical set: 'First' 'Then' and 'Finally'. This is a subtle triplet, in that it provides three stages, this makes it memorable supporting this idea of persuading you to make it.
Intimacy is created from the variety in font, the 'throw away' placement of the images and the informal signing.
- The first image is angled to suggest imperfections and create an informality.
- Both images have warm colours and seem appealing from the reds and browns. - homely.
'Yvonne (off the telly) x' - this is completely informal as if texting or writing a note for a friend. Overall this creates friendly connotations.
