Aquinas and analogy

Aquinas believed that God couldn't be described literally in human language

Limitations to language-”God is good”-word ‘good’ can't be understood literally-huge difference in the extent to which God is ‘good’ by comparison w/ human ‘good’’

Aquanies advocates for via negativa

He understood that its not satisfactory to talk about god in negative terms - instead opted for via eminentiae

Via eminentia- (way of eminence)-humans can talk postivtly about God but acknolege that our knowlege is partiacl-NOT possible to know God compltelety
