Forces Fluids and Density
Density is the property of matter that tells us how tightly matter is packed together.
if something weights more then it is more dense - if something weights less it is less dense.
for example a meatal cube is more dene than a wooden cube or a glass cup is more dense then a solo cup.
density plays a part in weather something can sink or float.
ARCHIMEDES PRINCIPLE is if an object is full submerged in water, the amount (or volume) of water that is displaced is equal to the volume of the object and people can use this principle to find the volume of an irregular shaped object. http://britannica.com/science/Archimedes-principle
The formula to find the density of a regular object is -
Find the mass on a tiple beam balance.
Find the volume by multiplying the Length by the Width by the Hight. (L x W x H = V)
Then devide the volume by the mass (V ➗ M = D)
Volume is the amount of space an object takes up. When measering with volume use cubic cm or cubic m.
Fluids is matter that can flow - fluids are not just liquids they are gasses to. for example air is a fluid.
Buoyancy is how well something is able to float on a fluid.
If something is less dense than the fluid that it is on then it can float - if it is more dense than it was sink.
