‘All waves can tranfer energy from one point to another without transferring any matter.’
Waves can transfer energy through solids, liquids and gases as well as empty spaces(vacuums)
The two types of waves are longitudinal and transverse.
Frequency - ‘number of complete waves passing a fixed point in a given amount of time’. (usually one second) Frequency symbol = F. Measurement in units = Hertz (Hz)
Period - refers to the time it takes for it to happen to pass through a fixed point. (time for one complete cycle)
Wavelength - The point on one wave to the same point on the next wave(peaks, troughs). Wavelength is given the symbol Lambda.
Amplitude - is the distance from the maximum disturbance to the undisturbed position(flat line).
