Solutions

A solution is a mixture of a solvent and a solute.

Solution Is a mixture of a solute and a solvent that does not separate out

Solute Is the solid in a mixture

Solvent Is the liquid it’s dissolving into

Soluble Meaning it will dissolve

Insoluble Meaning it will not dissolve

Solubility A measure of how much it will dissolve

Example:

Brine is a solution of salt (the solute) and water (the solvent).

When you add a solute to a solvent the bonds holding the solute together sometimes breaks and because of this, the molecules mix forming a solution. This is called dissolving
