Static point-to-point IPv6 tunnels
- point to point
- support IPv6 IGP over tunnel
!
interface Tunnel0
no ip address
ipv6 address 2001:33::3/64
ipv6 ospf 1 area 0
keepalive 10 3
tunnel source FastEthernet0/1
tunnel destination 10.0.15.5
tunnel mode ipv6ip
end
!
-
Dynamic mulitpoint ipv6 tunnels
- point to multipoint
- do not support ipv6 IGP, so we need static routes or mBGP
-
a) Automatic 6to4 tunnels:
-treats the underlying IPv4 network as one big non-broadcast multiaccess
(NBMA) network, rather than a collection of independent point-to-point
links.
- uses 2002::/16: not globally routed
-
b) ISATAP
NAT64
- if v6 only host needs to communicate to v4 only host.
-
Two flavors:
a) Stateless:
- do it and forget.
- ipV4 address of destination embedded in ipv6 address
- ipv6 host IP should be static
- allow bidrectional reachability
