theme- the authors message in a story

conflict- the problem in a story between characters

infer- to predict information based on educated guesses

imagery- words that describe/appeal to your senses (touch, taste, smell, hear, sight)

plot diagram- consists of exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution

exposition- the beginning of the story where you meet the characters and see the setting

rising action- the part of the story that creates suspense and leads up to the climax

climax- the most exciting, or important part of a story

falling action- the part of the story that occurs right after the problem of the story has been solved

resolution- the act of solving a problem

protagonist- the main character, or hero/heroin of a story

antagonist- the villain, or enemy in a story

setting- the time and location of a story
