types of waves
Transverse = Transverse waves are waves that travel perpendicular to the waves themselves
longitudinal = longitudinal waves are waves that travel parallel to the waves themselves
Definitions
Frequency = the number of complete waves per second
Wavelength = the distance from peak to peak or trough to trough
Rarefaction = a point at which waves are further away from each other than normal
Compression = a point at which waves are closer together than normal
Amplitude = the distance from the horizontal axis to the peak
Critical Angle = the angle of incidence at which the angle of refraction is 90
Focal length = The distance between the center of a lens and the principal focus
Diffraction = waves spreading out when it goes through a small gap
