P wave- atrial depolarisation PR interval - (0.12-0.20s, 3-5 squares) QRS complex- Ventricular depolarisation ST segment - pause in ventricular activity T wave- ventricular repolarisation
Heart Block (PR interval >0.20s) 1st degree: PR delay is constant, and all P waves followed by QRS complex 2nd degree 3rd degree: Atrial P waves have no relation to QRS complex (P waves abnormal/absent, bradycardia, broad QRS) Mobitz type 1: PR progressively longer till one P wave not conducted and no QRS, then reset Mobitz Type 2: PR interval fixed and normal, occasional P wave no QRS 2:1 block - every alternate P wave no QRS
Atrial flutter: Atrial rate 300/min, ventricular rate 150, sawtooth baseline, AV block (2:1, 3:1, 4:1)
AF: irregularly irregular rhythm, no P waves, QRS rate 170/min
Ventricular tachy: Broad QRS, ventricular rate >120, may degenerate into VF
Re-entrant tachy: Verticular rate 188, narrow RS complex, P waves halfway between QRS complexes
VF: chaotic rhythm, broad QRS , rate >190
