- MATHEMATICAL OPERATORS - e.g. +, -, /, *
E.g. =A12+(A12*VAT) - 2Functions- Used to represent formula that is too complex or too long for an ordinary user to enter
-Uses reserved words built into spreadsheet (MIN, MAX, SUM, COUNTIF) - 3Variables- Value contained in cell used when variable is used
- Identifier associated with a particular cell
- Could be cell reference (e.g. D4) or cell name (e.g. VAT) - 4Rules- Validation rules applied to ensure values are given
- Sequence of events required for calculation to work
