- 1DatabaseA structured collection of data
- 2TableA set of data e.g. all the information about students in a school.
- 3RecordA row which stores data about a single person or item
- 4FieldThe columns in a table e.g. forename, surname, gender.
- 5Primary keyA special field with a unique identifier e.g. a student ID.
- 6Foreign keyA key field which appears in other tables.
- 7RelationshipMost databases need more than one table to store all of the data. These tables need to be linked, and this is called a relational database.
- 8Data type: TextIncludes any type of text, including letters and numbers.
- 9Data type: NumberOnly includes numerical values.
- 10Data type: Date/timeStores dates and times.
- 11Data type: BooleanStores one of two values: true or false
- 12Online databaseA database which is stored online. This is accessible via the internet and stores thousands of user's information.

- Is far more secure as data is not transferred over the internet. - 14DataBase Management System (DBMS)A piece of software used to create databases. It creates them using SQL but is more user friendly.
- 15Structured Query Language (SQL)The language used to create databases. It has a Data Definition Language (DDL) to set up the tables, and a Data Manipulation Language (DML) to update & search queries.
