Pious	Having a respect for God and/or the church
Insolent	Boldly rude or disrespectful
Haughty	Lofty, over- proud, or snobbish
Impiety	Lack or piety or a disrespect for God or the church
Gadfly	A person who pesters or annoys others to the extreme with criticisim, schemes, or questions
Classical Republicanism	A system where the wants of the majority outweigh the needs of the minority; government before the people
Natural Rights Philosophy	The idea that the rights of the individual come before the power of the entire people; people before the government
Autocracy	A system where one person has all power; an unlimited monarchy
Democracy	A system in which the people have power by majority; a majority of people have all power
Republic	A system where power rests with a group of elected officials; elected by a large, (but not all encompassing), portion of the people
Oligarchy	A system where all power rests in a small class or group of people
Anarchy	A system with no government or law
Theocracy	A system where God is recognized as the supreme leader to be represented by the church.
Totalitarianism	Absolute power by the state or a regime; the government is more important than the people
State of Nature	A lack of any system; the "government" by which wild animals and beasts live
