  1. 1What is a random sample?A portion of the population selected randomly.
  2. 2What is randomly assign? The chosen sample of the population will receive dependent treatment or nor will receive the treatment.
  3. 3What is a population? The total number of events or people who poses a the specific characteristic in which the researches are interested in.
  4. 4What is a sample?A chosen part of the whole population.
  5. 5What are the two aspect that randomness has that we need to consider?External Validity
    and
    Internal Validity.
  6. 6What is external validity? Is how accurate the example represents the population.
  7. 7What is internal validity? Is how accurate the experiment measures what is mean to measure.
  8. 8What is a variable?I a property of an object or event that can take on different values. (That is being measure)
  9. 9Dichotomize the concept of a variable:Independent variable and Dependent variable.
  10. 10What is a independent variable? It is what is being control or manipulated in a experiment.
  11. 11What is a dependent variable? It is the result from controlling the independent variable in a experiment. It is what is being measure.
  12. 12What are discrete variables?Separate values.
    Distinct values.
Separation of values are clear and take only a limited number of values.
  13. 13What is continuous variables? This variable can take any value between the low set and the highest points on the scale.
  14. 14What is quantitative data?It is measurement data. It are the results of the measurement. The results are numeric.
  15. 15What is categorical data? Also known as frequency data or qualitative data. Describe the result in categorical form. Example: There are 26 males and 32 females.
  16. 16What are descriptive statistics?Different methods used to describe the data. For example, Graphs, means.
  17. 17Who developed what is called as exploratory statistics (exploratory data analysis (EDA)?John Tukey
  18. 18What was the purpose of John Tukey for EDA?He showed the necessity of paying close attention to the data and examining them in detail before invoking more technically involved procedures.
  19. 19What are inferential statistics? In statistics we acknowledged that it was not possible to measure the entire population, and therefore we drew samples from that population and we got results that can have external variability in theory.
  20. 20What is a parameter?A measure, such as the average self esteem score, that refers to an entire population is called a parameter.
  21. 21What is a statistic? When using samples, the results are called statistics.
  22. 22What is the difference between parameters and statistics? We want to infer something about the characteristics of the population (parameters) from what we know about the characteristics of the sample (statistics).
  23. 23What are nominal scales? They are not really scales at all: they do not scale items along any dimension, but rather label them. Variables such as gender and political party affiliation are nominal variables.
  24. 24Usually how categorical data is measured?Categorical data are usually measured on a nominal scale.
  25. 25What is ordinal scale? Are scales that orders people, objects, or events along some continuum. But the distance between objects is not clearly defined.
  26. 26What is interval scale? We have a measurement scale in which we can legitimately speak of differences between scale points. The distance between two point is exactly the same between other two points in the same scale. There is not true zero.
  27. 27What is ration scale? Is one that has true zero point. The distance between the points is the same, there is a clear zero.
