1. Output refers to just about anything that emerges from something else

   • Output in SLA means language that has a communicatioe purpose

2. L2 learnes have to learn how think of what you want to say and then put that thought into speech

   • The learner may access lexicon and form developing L2 system, but then use the L1 production strategies to put everying together.
     • Communication strategy
   • Processability Theory: some procedures must be in place before others can be acquired.
     • lemma (words) access, category procedure,phrasnl procedure, simplified S-procedure, subordinate clause procedure

3. What is the role of output in the creation of the developing system?

   • The first is that output plays the samerole as input. The second is that output plays no role. The third is that output plays a facilitating role

4. the person's fluency: Skilled or fluent L2 speakers are faster than unskilled speakers and may also not make the same errors. We say that automatization has occurred when learners have reached such levels in making output, which translates into "speaking without much conscious effort".
