1. Slow

   • Soil Creep
     • Individual soil particles are pushed or heaved to the surface by wetting, heating or freezing of water
   • Rain Splash Erosion
     • Raindrops compact the soil and dislodge particles equally in all directions

2. Flow

   • Surface Wash
     • When soils infiltration capacity is exceeded and can lead to formation of gullies
   • Sheet Wash
     • The unchanneled flow of water over a soil surface
   • Throughflow
     • water moving down through soil

3. Fast

   • Slides
     • material maintains its shape and cohesion until it impacts at bottom of slope and leads to large, slumped terraces
   • Falls
     • Occur on steep slopes
   • Slumps
     • occur on weaker rocks, e.g.clay, + have a rotational movement along a curved slip plane
