1. Estimation and Rounding

   • <5 means round down
     • >5 means round up

2. Indices

   • Index laws
   • A - base
     • N - power
   • Anything to the power of zero is equaled to 1.
     • Anything powered by one is itself.

3. Surds

   • Anything with a surd sign is in surd form, but not always a real surd.
   • To solve a surd you have to find the square root of whatever is inside the surd.
     • A square root is, what times itself equals x?
       • A cubed square root is what times itself times, itself again equals x.
         • EXAMPLE: If it was 64 as the number inside the cubed surd, 4 would be the answer since 4 x 4 x 4 = 64.
       • EXAMPLE: If it was 4 in the surd , 2 would be the answer since 2 x 2 = 4.

4. Decimals

   • Rational and Irrational
     • RationaL Deciamals: They are common with not too many number after the decimal place. They can be turned into a fraction.
       • Can be called Triminating
     • Irrational Decimals: They are less common, they are recurring or repeating and go on FOREVER (or just a long time).
       • Reccuring Decimal: It has the same number going on for a long time, or forever. You usually put a dot next to the number that is recurring.
       • Repeating Decimal: It repats a patterns of number after the decimal point. It usually has a horizontal line to indicate that the numbers underneath the line ar repeting, for a long time... OR FOREVER.
       • Can be called terminating

5. Operations w/ Fractions

   • If you have a fraction inside brackets with a power, you put a power to both numbers.
     • If you have a fraction with a surd on top of it, you find the square root for both numbers in the fraction.
   • When you are dividing fractions, remember to invert when multiplying at the end.
     • Before doing anything, remember to convert all mixed numbers into improper fractions.
