   • form design should include: logo/company name/ title/subheadings/list of options given/insturctions/ sensible number of boxes/data laid out in clear order& range of pissible answers limited.

   • hard disks
     • main storage device/number of rigid disks stacked ontop of each other,each disk has 2 surfaces containing tracks and sectors./read/write head for each surface/access speeds are faster than cd drve/its stored in sealed unit to protect it from the damage of dirt&dust/internal hard disks used to permantly store the operating system,application software&user data./ external hard disks are portable with high storage capacity- can be attached using usb cable&suitable for small scale backup of data
   • optical disks
     • cds have capacity of 700mb-portable media./ CDROM- data is burned onto the surface of the disk using laser beam which makes pits- disks are supplied with information ie) music and software already stored on them- the user can read data but not write to it-cost is determined by application stored on it
     • CD-R(recordable)-disks are supplied blank- the user can only record data onto the disk once(WORM-write once read many disk)- data can be read from disk as often as required- used to store data r music ir small ackup on a pc
     • CD-RW(rewriteable)-disks are supplied blank,user can record data onto disk , erase it & rewrite many times, they're more expensive than CD-R's/
     • DVD(digitile versatile disk)- dvd drive can also read cds/storage is 5gb for single layer dvd and 17gb for double sided , dual layer dvd./ they are used to store large amounts of data and films/ they can be read from&written too.
     • blue ray disks-have larger storage capacity than dvds/can be used for recording high definition tv without loss of quality/can store digitally encoded video and audio data/ storage capacity is 50gb
   • memory
     • rom(read only memory)-can be read but not written to/ programs stored are permanent(no volatile)/ its used to store the booting up program for the windows operating system which runs automartivslly when computer is switched on
     • ram(random access memory)-can be read from or written to, its volatile(contents of memory is lost when machine is switched off)/ used to hold current application programs and data the user isess working with/the size of RAM can influence the speed of processor , the larger the ram , the faster the processor.
     • cache -special form of memory located close to the processor/insturctions can be read from or written to cache/small in capacity compared to ram but offers faster access speeds/its purpose is to store frequently accessed program instructions
