What is the iris reflex?
- very bright light can damage the retina so you have the iris reflex to protect the retina
Bright Light
- Radial muscles of the iris relaxed
- Circular muscles of the iris contracted
- Contracted pupil (less light enters the eye)
Dim Light
- Radial muscles of the iris contracted
- Circular muscles of the iris relaxed
- Dilated pupil (more light enters the eye)
