   • Atoms of the same element with different number of neutrons and different mass

2. b) Atomic Structure

   • Atomic number (Proton number Z)
     • The number of protons in an atoms
   • Mass number (Nucleon number A)
     • The number of protons and neutrons in an atoms
   • Ions
     • Cations
       • Positive ions are atoms with fewer electrons than protons. Cation have an overall positive charge
     • Anion
       • Negative ions are atoms with more electron than protons. Anion have an overall negative charge

   • Relative Isotopic Mass
     • The mass compared to 1/12th mass of carbon-12
   • Relative Atomic Mass
     • Weighted mean mass compared with 1/12th mass of carbon-12
