God's intention of the Bible is not simply of communicating a story or a number of stories, but a message of love. A message of love, salvation and fullness of life which is found in every story of the Bible.
In the first book, the Genesis, we see the deep love from Abraham to God. It tells us about the things he has done for God- he even offered to sacrifice his own son.
In the second book we find the story on how God helped his people escape from Egypt. He then gave them the 10 commandments.

Unit 4.6 pages 88-89
When the son of God became man, he gave us the opportunity to have some sort of guide no our lives. He wanted to become like us and share our experiences but above all, he wanted to communicate directly with us, he wanted us to see him face to face. He didn't want to make us feel like God didn't understand us.
Jesus was not a prophet that came to Earth to pass on a message from God, Jesus himself is the message. Jesus didn't show the meaning of love through long homilies, but by showing us how to love. We can see Jesus' love through the forgiveness he gave, in his friendship with others, in the compassion he showed when he healed the sick and, above all, his death on the cross. He save us through death and resurrection.
Unit 4.7 pages 90-91
When the Jews fled from Egypt they needed a set of rules to help them live together so God gave them the Ten Commandments. True harmony must be built through our union with God. Therefore, the first three commandments will help them keep God present in their lives. The other 7 were intended to stop people from hurting Each other.
Jesus then, did not destroy the Commandments, yet squashed them together into The Great Commandment; "You must love God with all your mind, heart and soul... You must love your neighbour as yourself" .
