  1. Bruner

    • Furthers his idea of a LASS
    • Saw parent-child interaction as four phases:
    • 1. Gaining attention- Getting a child to look at the picture/word
    • 2. Query- Asking the child what the picture/word is
    • 3. Label- Telling the child what the picture/word is
    • 4. Feedback- Responding to the child's utterance
  2. Slide 2

    • Some theorists have found that children who are sensitive to rhyme are much better at reading. Learning phonemic patterns is key to reading successfully as phonology does not always match orthography in the English language.
  3. Dombey

    • Believed that rhyming and rhyming games help children to relate sound patterns to letter clusters
    • This assists reading and spelling as it enables children to recognise sounds they have heard before
  4. Konza

    • Makes phonemic awareness one of the most important skills for reading successfully
    • Phonemic awareness is the ability to hear, separate and manipulate individual sounds and phonemes
  5. Skinner

    • Positive reinforcement is perhaps evident in how parents and teachers correct child reading
    • Adults could also use positive words such as "well done" or "good girl"
    • Negative reinforcement in this interaction is limited to the mother telling the child when they have read the word wrong
