  1. Abraham

    • Abraham
    • Abram was the first person to teach the idea that there was only one God; before then, people believed in many gods. Jews called Abraham (as he was later called) the first Patriarch of the Jewish people. The reason why people remember Abraham as a prophet is because after trying for a child for many years he finally had one and called him Issac. But God decided that he wanted Abraham to show his loyalty towards him in the worst way possible. To use his beloved son as a sacrifice. Abraham knew that God was always right and he decided to do it. He took his son up to a mountain and was about to sacrifice him. Luckily though just before the dagger touched Issac God stopped Abraham and said he has proved his loyalty and doesn't have to kill his only child. Issac was safe and they sacrificed a ram instead of him. That is the story of Abraham.
  2. The Passover- Why do we remember it?

    • Passover is one of the most important religious festivals in the Jewish calendar. Jews celebrate the Feast of Passover (Pesach in Hebrew) to commemorate the liberation of the Children of Israel who were led out of Egypt by Moses. Jews have celebrated the passover since around 1300 BC.
    • What is the passover?
    • The passover is when the angel of death came to kill the children of Egypt. This was the last of the 10 plagues ( I will extend on that soon) that made the pheroh change his mind about keeping the Hebrews ( Jews ) in slavery.
    • How do we remember it?
    • To remember this event, Jews will have this special meal called a seder meal. It begins on the 14th and 15th day of Nisan There are at least five foods that go on the seder plate: shank bone (zeroa), egg (beitzah), bitter herbs (maror), vegetable (karpas) and a sweet paste called haroset. Many seder plates also have room for a sixth, hazeret (another form of the bitter herbs). The bitter herbs represent the bitterness and the the harshness that the Hebrews felt during the time of their slavery. The haroset represents the mortar that the hebrews used to build the Egyptian's pyramid. The shank bone ( The only piece of meat on the plate) represents the lamb killed and used as a sacrifice during the passover.
  3. The 10 Plagues Of Eygpt

    • Because the pharaoh refused to let the hebrews go God sent the him 10 plagues. This Included:
    • The river of blood - The first of the 10 plagues was the river of blood. The river nile is a river that runs through the whole of Egypt and this is where the Egyptian's would come and get their water and where they would fish to get food and where they would get water so they can bathe. God turned the river into blood so they Egyption's could no longer drink, eat ( because the fish had died) or bathe. The Pharaoh refused to let the Hebrews go.
    • The Frogs- The second of the 10 plagues was frogs. God sent thousands of frogs all over the land. The frogs went in people houses and everywhere! But the Pharaoh did not let the Hebrews go.
    • The Gnats - The third of the 10 plagues was the gnats. God had sent gnats all over the land of Egypt where the jumped everywhere. The pharaoh still refused to let the Hebrews go.
    • The Flies- The fourth of the 10 plagues was the flies. God sent flies all over egypt where they flew around buzzing and disturbing all the animals. But the pharaoh refused to let the hebrews go.
    • The livestock- The fifth of the 10 plauges was killing the livestock. God sent a horrible plague on Egypt where all except the Habrews live stock. But still the pharaoh did not let the Hebrews go.
    • The Boils- The sixth of the 10 plagues was the boils. God had given all the Egyptians and the Pharaoh boils all over their skin. The Pharaoh's doctor came in and he could not even help them! The Pharaoh refused to let the Hebrews go.
    • The Hail Storm- The seventh of the 10 plagues is the Hail Storm. God caused a constant hail storm that hailed all over Egypt.Things were damaged and livestock even died during this hailstorm. The Pharaoh still refused to let the Hebrews go.
    • The Locusts- The eighth of the 10 plagues was the locusts. God sent locusts all over egypt where they ate all the berries and food on the trees. After this there was no crops or greenery left for the Egyptian's. But still the Pharaoh refused to let the hebrews go.
    • The Darkness- The ninth of the 10 plagues was the darkness. A thick cloud of darkness was sent over Egypt. It was so dark that the Egyptians had to feel their way around. The pharaoh actully said to let the Hebrews go but in exchange in letting go of the slaves he had to keep all of their livestock. But the Hebrews needed their livestock to sacrifice to God, so they rejected the offer.
    • The Firstborn- The tenth and last plague was killing the first born. Moses told every one to paint the blood of a lamb on their door for them to survive. All the Hebrews did so but the Egyptians thought this was a hoax and did not do it. Even the Pharaoh did not do it. So the next morning. Most of the Egyptian firstborns had passed during the night but the Hebrews had survived
