- A URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is the unique web address for every website on the world wide web. It is what is used to identify the webpage. Some examples are
- - www.youtube.com
- - www.facebook.com
- - www.twitter.com
-
- IP Addresses are what the internet uses to identify different devices. IP is short for Internet Protocol. An internet protocol is a set of rules defining how things are done on the internet. They are made up of 4 numbers between 1 and 3 digits, and look something like this: 194.121.4.28. They can either be static or dynamic. Static IP addresses do not change, however, dynamic IP addresses change each time you go on the internet.
-
- DNS is the system that matches URLs to website IP addresses so you don't have to remember every IP address for every website you want to go to.

- Local Hosting is where a person hosts a website from their home. This then allows others to connect to it, and access its web files. However, there are some issues with this, such as bandwidth, it always has to be on, technical knowledge, firewall, payments, and dynamic IP addresses. It is usually better to host from an external server, as they have the expertise to address issues.
