- 1. Initial means t=0 (e.g. initial mass (at t=0) = M0)
- 2. For rate of change we differentiate
- 3. Half-life = the time taken for a 50% deteriation
- 4. When asked to evaluate the model, sub in really large numbers to t and make a judgement.
-
- 1. T=Temperature, and after t minutes: T=225-207e^(-t/8)
- Find the initial temperature
- Find the temperature after 5 minutes
- How long would it take for the temperature to reach 14.2 minutes?
- Why is this model limited?
-
- Find the initial temperature - T0 ; 225 - 207(1) = 18 degrees
- Find the temperature after 5 minutes - T = 225 - 207e^(-5/8) = 114 degrees
- How long would it take for the temperature to reach 14.2 minutes? - 190 = 225 - 207e^(-t/8) , same as 207e^(-t/8) = 35 , e^(-t/8)= 35/207 , ln(35/207) = -t/8 , -t/8 = -1.77 , -t = -14.2 , t=14.2
- Why is this model limited? - When t is really large, the maximum value of T = 225
