Pauses within sentences

• There are several different ways to show a pause within a sentence:
• a comma
• a dash
• a colon
• a semi-colon
• an ellipsis.
• Each one has a different job to do, although sometimes, which one you use will depend on the 'voice' you're using or the emphasis you want to make. Sometimes, it's a question of judgement rather than following a rule.
