- Spirits such as gin, whiskey and brandy are created by fermentation. The basic necessary ingredients for fermentation to occur are carbohydrates and yeast. Spirits such as gin are created with ethanol, a chemical compound which is simple alcohol. There are two steps to creating it, the first being a simple neutral spirit, which is made of juniper, which is a conifer tree, other plants and water. This mixture is left to sit for up to 48 hours where it is then distilled. This mixture can then be infused by a variety of methods, such as putting individual shots of the flavoured infusion, vapour infusion. Occasionally spirits can be aged, to remove harsh flavours. TYpically it is brandy and whisky that is aged.

- Spirits are generally the stronger group of alcohols. Obviously, they are used for people's pleasure because adults enjoy drinking alcohol.
- As I can't exactly tell you why people specifically use it, " People generally tend to drink alcohol to have fun. Being drunk makes them feel happy and “spirited,” and drinking alcohol with friends can be a fun experience. ... People drink to have fun at parties, nightclubs, barbecues, and more because they think alcohol enhances their experience. "
