Definitions

Evil - anything that is morally wrong or unjust.

Moral evil - pain or suffering that results directly from the freely chosen actions of human beings.

Physical/Natural evil - suffering as a result of operations of the natural world.

God is omnipotent + God is benevolent + Evil exists

"Either God cannot abolish evil, or he will not; if he cannot then he is not all-powerful; if he will not then he is not all-good." - Augustine

i God has the power to create a world free from evil.

ii God does not want us to suffer as a result of evil.

iii Yet evil and suffering exist.

iv Evil is inconsistent with the existence of a benevolent, omnipotent God.

v God's existence as a benevolent, omnipotent being, therefore, is logically incoherent.
