- 1PhysicalThese are real methods of security meaning they can be touched. an example of a physical method of security are biometrics such as a thumb print scanner.
- 2HardwareHardware devices can be used to to secure devices. These can be cables, locks and safes. they are seen as hardware because they are heavy duty and protect the things stored well. They can only be broken through with brutal force.
- 3SoftwareSoftware methods of cyber security are on the device therefore they are seen as software such as a firewall. However, software devices for cyber security are things such as anti-malware programs or updates on a devices OS.
- 4DataData is usually why security measures are taken. Especially confidential and private data needs to be kept secure. The types of data can be in use, in rest, in-transit and in the cloud.
- 5EncryptionsEncryption is the act of changing something such as data in to a combination of numbers and letters which can only be understandable by those with the encryption key, this is done to protect something stored from unauthorised access.
- 6CryptographyStoring and transmitting data secretly so that only the sender and recipient can understand it. This is done so that unauthorised access is avoided. In cryptography a key is used to decrypt the encrypted message so that it is understandable.
- 7DevicesThese are storage devices used to store data such as hard drives, USB's and external drives.
- 8ProceduresThese are the things that are done to control cyber security. procedures are a set of rules which are completed in a certain order for a reason.
