Karteikarten
Data Link Layer
Karten in diesem Stapel (12)
- 1Forward Error CorrectionAdding redundancy to the Frame in order to allow the receiver to correct the data
- 2Stop and WaitProtocol in which the sender does not send the next frame until it has received an ack for the current
- 3Go Back n SlidingSender sends a window of frames. Receiver sends ack for the next, in order, expected frame. Out of order frames are not buffered by the receiver.
- 4Sending Windowthe window in which frames are sent.
- 5Max Sending WindowMax=data rate (b/s) * RTT(s) / frame size (b)
- 6Selective Repeat Sliding WindowProtocol similar to Go Back n Sliding but t he receiver can now buffer out of order frames.
- 7Hamming DistanceThe number of bit positions the 2 sequences differ by. Haming distance can detect dist. -1 bit errors.
- 8Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC)Error Detecting code for r bits of redundancy. use r+1 generator. Uses checksum (code word) that is appended to the message so that the generator and the message create all 0 using exclusive OR
- 9Framing MethodA method that allows the beginning and end of a frame to be recognized at the receiver
- 10Byte StuffingUse a special byte to delineate the beginning and end frames. Replace naturally occurring special bytes with something else.
- 11Coding Violationsuse bits that violate the 8B/10B coding method. (8 bits are mapped to 10 signal bits. )
- 12Character CountsA framing method in which start frame informs the receiver of how many bits there are in the message.
