Measures
Method to determine the relationship between a dependent Variable and one or more independent variables.
Simple Linear Regression: one independent variable andone dependent variable.
Multiple Regression: two or more independent variables and one dependent variable.
Coefficient of Determination (R^2): proportion of variationin dependent variable explained by independent variable(s).
Slope: direction and steepness of relationship between dependent and independent variable(s).
Intercept: value of dependent variable whenindependent variable(s)is zero.
Method to measure the strenght and direction of the relationship between two variables.
Person's Correlation Coefficient: lineal relation ship between two continuous variables.
Spearman's Rank correlation Coefficient: monotonic relationship between two continuous or ordinal variables
Correlation Coefficent (r): strenght and direction of relationship between two variables. Value ranger from -1 to- 1.
p-value: statical significance of the correlartion coefficent. p<0.05 indicates significant correlation.
Bivariate statistical measures are used to analyze the relationship between two statistical variables. Some of the most common measures are the correlation coefficient, the coefficient of determination, linear regression, contingency tables, and analysis of variance. These measures are useful in determining the strength and direction of the relationship between the two variables and in identifying possible patterns and trends in the data.
