Help and FAQ
How do I share a Course with a Group?
You can share a Course by assigning it in a Group.
Assigning a course means sharing it with members of any GoConqr Group in which you are administrator. This is a very useful for encouraging collaborative learning and knowledge sharing with your students, colleagues or employees.
There are two ways by which you can assign a course to a Group:
Option 1: Via Courses folder
- Go to “Courses” on the left-hand side of your dashboard.
- Select the course you want to assign from your list using the “Assign” button located to the right of your course.
- This will bring you to a box where you can choose the Groups to which you can assign your course, along with the option to schedule when you want your course to be assigned and a field to enter instructions for course users when the course goes live.
Option 2. Via the Group you want to assign your Course to:
- Click on the “Courses” tab on the right side of the group you have chosen.
- Next, click on the “Assign” button located to the right of the screen.
- Choose one of your courses from the dropdown list, the start time at which you want your course to be assigned and instructions you wish to send to the participants by mail when the course goes live.
After performing either of these two steps, the system will alert you that the course has been successfully assigned. You can also manually check whether your course has been assigned to your group by going to the “Courses” tab.

If you create a Mind Map, it will automatically be saved to your Unassigned subject. However, if you are within a subject when you decide to create a Mind Map, it will be saved in this subject automatically.
Creating your Mind Map
When you first enter a Mind Map you will see your central node and a Menu bar with many options to customise your map.Clicking the central node and typing will automatically rename the Mind Map. If you drag the “+” icon out from the node you can create another node. This will be connected to the central node by a thin strand.

You can also change the colour of a node. If you want, you can apply these changes to the outline of a node only, all child nodes and enable a gradient filter.
To delete a node and any nodes connected to it, select the node and click on the trash can icon. You will be asked to confirm this selection.

How Do I Create a Quiz?
Click on the 'create' option and you’ll be brought straight to a new quiz screen. A Quiz is a series of questions. As such, when making a quiz, you’ll be asked to create questions which will become a part of your Quiz.
You can choose a variety of question types, as shown below, including 'Fill-The-Blanks' and 'Label image'.
You can use different question types in the same quiz. Each question type allows you to ask a question, provide multiple possible answers, and to provide an explanation of why the correct answer is correct. This explanation will show while viewing the answers at the end of the quiz.
Quiz Settings
Before your start adding your questions, select your preferred quiz settings.
You can chose to randomise the question order, whether you want users to be able to see the correct answers during and/or at the end of the quiz.
You can set a limit on the overall quiz time, or a limit per question. And you can chose a default score (usually 1). If your quiz is private, you can limit the quiz attempts.
A new feature allows you to limit the number of questions per assessment. This means you can create a quiz with 50 questions and limit the assessment to 30 questions. When a user takes your quiz, they will be presented with a set of 30 questions chosen at random out of the initial pool of 50. The set of 30 questions presented will be different every time the quiz is accessed.
You also have the ability to customise individual questions. To do so, click on the cog located on the top right hand side while editing each individual question.
On certain question types, such as Checkboxes and Fill-The-Blanks you can now apply partial scoring. For questions which have answers with multiple components, this setting allows the user to obtain a score for each component they answer correctly. This means the user can get a partial score for the question even if they do not get all components correct.
Last but not least, you can now transfer questions from one of your existing quizzes into a whole new quiz or another of your pre-existing quizzes. To do so, check the boxes of those questions you want to transfer on the left hand side list and select "copy questions".

Simply click on the Library link on the right hand side of your home page.
Click here to learn more about the Library.
How can I search for resources?
Use the Search bar at the top of the page to enter a subject, topic, or keyword.
This will generate a summary list of results, and you can click this to see a listing of all the resources that contain those words.
You can use the filters on the right hand side to easily sort by resource type.
You can also filter to show:
- - just your own resources
- - resources that have been shared with your groups
- - resources that you have pinned
- - your Campus resources (if relevant).
Where can I find resources in a Group?
In a Group, simply select the Resources tab. You will see all the resources shared with the group - these may be ordered into topics if the admin has set up the group to do so.
You will also see an update on the Group activity feed when a resource is shared with the group.
Organising Resources
Where are my resources stored?
Your resources are stored in your Subject folders.
You can access your subjects by clicking on Subjects on the left hand menu.
You can arrange the resources in your subject in different Topic sections. You can add new subjects and you can archive old subjects when you no longer need them.
If you start creating a resource while in a subject folder, that resource will automatically be saved to that subject. When you close a resource you have created, you will be prompted to save it to a subject. If you do not save the resource to a subject, it will be placed in your ‘Unassigned’ folder.
You can pin resources from the GoConqr library or content shared with you into your subject folders.
Can I change my subject folders?
When you click on subjects, click on the Settings cog icon.
You can change the name, calendar colour, icon, and exam level (if applicable).
You can also delete or archive a subject here.
How Do I create a new folder?
To create a new folder, go to the "subjects" section in the menu on the right hand side of the screen.
Once you are in your folders page, select the green option "add new subject" found in the top right of the screen.
Give your folder a name, indicate which exam it belongs to, add an icon and select a color, which will be the color that the subject will have on the calendar.
What are pins and why should I use them?
Pins are a way for you to organise content created by other GoConqr users.
You can pin a resource to one of your subject folders (or a topic within a subject) so that you know where to find it. When you pin a resource you are not copying it, but you are making it easier to find.
Pinning content also helps us to categorise content – for example if you pin an algebra resource into an an algebra folder, we know more about what type of Mathematics resource that is.
You can also use the Search bar to filter your pinned resources.
To pin a resource, choose ‘Pin’ from the Actions menu. You will also be prompted to pin a resource to one of your subjects when you close out of a resource using the ‘x’ in the top right hand corner.
What are topics?
Topics are sections within your subject folder.
These help you to categorise your resources better if you have a lot of content.
What are tags?
We have introduced GoConqr tags as a way of categorising your resources so that common topics and resources can be identified, and so that we can add content to appropriate sections of the library.
By adding a tag to your resource, you can allow GoConqr to suggest similar public resources on that topic. This allows you to gain access to a wider range of relevant public content on GoConqr.
Tags can be added when you title your resource or by choosing the “edit details” (tag) button in view mode of the resource. You should give information about the topic, subject or level. Simply type a word or phrase and press enter.

Courses
What is a Course
A Course is an organised sequence of Modules, which can include GoConqr learning resources (Flowcharts, Flashcards, Mind Maps, Quizzes, Slides and Notes), text, and media (images, video and PDFs).
A Course can be structured so that it must be followed sequentially, and a minimum score for progression can be set for quizzes.
Course Modules can comprise of a resource, media item, or text, or you can combine text with resources or media.
Course modules can be weighted so that some contribute more to the overall score for the course.
Creating a Course
How do I create a Course?
Simply choose Course from the dropdown Create menu at the top of your home page, or Create Course from the left hand side of your home page.
Basic Information:
Fill in the basic information about your course – title and description. Decide if you want the course taker to have to follow in sequence, and choose your privacy setting (private courses are a Premium feature). If you are in a GoConqr Campus you may have permission to add a certificate to the course here.
Adding Modules
Next, choose a template to add a module to the Course. You can choose from only media, resource or text, or you can combine text with media or resources.
A module with a text field will allow you to add and edit text directly within the Course editor.
If you select a resource module, click to import a resource. You will be able to search the GoConqr library and your own resources to import a resource to a course. You can filter by resource type. Note that this creates a copy of the resource which is added to the course, so any changes to the resource in the future will not be reflected in the course copy. To add a resource to a course you must be the author, or else the author must allow copies of the resource to be made.
If you select a media module, click to add media. This will open your media library, where you can choose from your existing media (images, video, embeds), or you can add media to your library from here.
After adding your template you will see the module appear on the left hand side index. You can hide this index at any time, by sliding it to the left. Modules with resources will be named after the resource, and modules with media will be named after the media file title.
Modules with text only, or that you have not yet added media or resources to, will be untitled by default. You can change the names of any of the module by clicking ‘Manage Modules’ in the index on the left.
Organising your Course and Managing Modules
You can re-arrange modules by dragging and dropping in the index on the left hand side.
Clicking Manage Modules gives you more options:
- Rename Modules – by clicking and editing the name
- Add a Score weight – for modules with resources you can add a weight to the module, if for example one quiz is more important than others. By default all resources are weighted = 1.
- Progression Score – In a sequential course you may add a minimum score to flashcards and quizzes that a user must achieve in order to progress.
- Change template type – you may change the layout of the module to include or remove text.
- Delete – check the box here if you wish to delete any modules
Once you have made all the desired changes, click ‘Save all changes’ to return to the main course editor. When you are finished creating the course close it by simply clicking the x in the top right hand corner of the page. The Course will be available on the left hand side of your activity feed.

Library
What is the GoConqr Library?
GoConqr allows you to search millions of public resources created on the platform. To help you navigate this wealth of riches, we have organised the content into a personal learning library.
When you click on the library (on the right hand side of your activity feed) you will see filters depending on whether you are an education user, or a professional user, and what country you are in.
The filters include subjects and subtopics, and relevant filters such as exam level and exam board.
What determines what filters I see?
You will see different filters depending on the country you are based in and your user type. You can change your user type by editing your profile.
The actual filters are set based on what we know about that country and user type and the content available – for example some libraries will have filters for exam level, while others won’t.
How do you decide what content to show in the Library?
The library that you see is dictated by the language and location of your visit. We then add filters based on popular topics and levels within that location.
Each filter is populated with resources that are tagged to match the filter.
These could be tags applied by users, or by GoConqr admins.
How do I save a Resource or Course from the Library?
When you view a Resource you can pin it to your Subject folder by clicking on the pin icon on the resource overview page.
When you start a Course you find on the library it will appear under Enrolled courses which you can access on the left hand side of your home page.
Can I suggest a new Library category or filter?
Yes, please email feedback@goconqr.com. Please note that we will only add a filter if we have appropriately tagged content.
Therefore it is important to tag the content that you create accurately.

What is the difference between Public & Private groups?
Public Groups are groups that appear in GoConqr Search results that any member can request to join. They are often about a specific subject, exam, or learning interest.
Private Groups do not appear in Search results so people you don’t know cannot request to join them. If you create a private group you can invite GoConqr users to join, or you can email friends directly. Teachers often use private Groups to share content with their classes.

The Search bar allows you to search for public Courses, Resources, Groups and other members.

Plenty!
You can:
- preview and start courses
- view and pin resources
- request to join groups
- view users’ profiles and send them friend requests.
Or if you didn't find exactly what you were looking for, refine your Search and start again.
Profile
What is my Profile?
Your Profile is the basic user information about you on GoConqr.
Your profile is important as it affects the content we suggest to you on GoConqr in order to improve your learning experience.
It also helps identify you to other members, to give a better context around your resources and allow members to connect.
In the case where another members sees your profile, (through a Resource or Course) they can see your name, user classification, the number of public resources you have created and the number of friends you have.
How do I edit my Profile?
We fill in your profile initially by including the information you share with us during the onboarding process you go through when you sign up.
To view your profile, select profile from the dropdown menu under your name at the top of the home page or click on the profile box on the left hand side of the page.
To change the information on your profile, click Actions > edit profile. You can change information including your description, user type, and language. You can also change your photo by rolling over the photo on your profile and clicking when it says ‘Edit Avatar’.
When you create a new subject folder, you can decide if you would like this to be added to your profile as a subject or learning interest.
Who can see my Profile?
All users can see your name, user classification, the number of public resources you have created and the number of friends you have.
You can click the cog to change who can see your institution and exam level (if applicable), language, and your subjects or learning interests.
You can limit this to just you, your friends, or all GoConqr users. Another user will be able to see any mutual friends you have, and the public content that you have created on GoConqr.
Why do I have to select if I want to Study, Teach, or Work?
This helps us to suggest appropriate content for you, on your activity feed and through your library filters.
You can edit your profile at any time.
Subjects
What are Subjects?
Subjects are folders you can use to organise your learning content. We create subject folders for you based on the information you give us during the onboarding process, but you can add a Subject at any time.
You can access subjects on the left hand side of your home page. You will see a button to ‘Create New Subject’.
You can add Topics to your Subject to further categorise your resources. You can also add an exam level under the Settings tab, if appropriate.

You can Archive a subject if you no longer need to access it frequently but want to keep the content. Simply open the Subject, click on ‘Settings’ and choose to Archive.
Archived subjects will be available under Archive from the dropdown menu under your name at the top of the page.

Subject Analytics give you a breakdown of the resource types in your folder and your pinning activity for the previous 6 months.
You can easily access and play the resources, or see the results of your attempts.

If you like what you see, you can pin the content to your Subject permanently.

How is my Media quota determined and what happens when I reach it?
The quota for a Basic GoConqr account is 50MB.
If you use a lot of video, you may need to upgrade your account to one of our other plans, which offer additional media storage.
To see the media storage quotas of all our plans, visit our plans page.
Storage allocation is based on the size of the file when uploaded to GoConqr. Your media library will indicate how much space you are using and how much space is available, as well as how much space each media item takes up.
Video embeds do not contribute to your quota as these are hosted on third party sites and do not use storage space on GoConqr.
If you do not wish to upgrade your account, you may delete media from the library to free up space.
If you are part of an organization and require additional storage space, please contact our sales team to discuss your storage options.
Can other people see or share my Media Library?
Your library is private to you and you cannot directly share your media with others.
However, you can easily add your media to a resource and share with a Group or privately to a friend on GoConqr.
Using Mathematical Symbols & Equations
How Do I Enter Mathematical Symbols and Equations?
GoConqr uses the universal mark-up language LaTex to input Mathematical Symbols and Equations.
You can enter Mathematical Symbols and Equations anywhere in Flashcards, Quizzes, Slides, Notes and Courses, and in the annotations (not in the nodes) on Mind Maps. This is due to how our Mind Map tool renders text.
For more in-depth guides check here. If you still can't find what you're looking for then just ask us!
Pro Tips:
Right click on any symbols you see in GoConqr and you'll be given options to see it in LaTex code. If you're copying and pasting code in from elsewhere make sure and 'paste as plain text'.
Having LaTex in a resources title will create very ugly links if you share that resource. Only enter LaTex as a title if it's necessary!

When one of your visitors have completed the Quiz and they submit their attempt, if you have specified a callback URL, then we will POST the attempt information to this endpoint. An example of the data structure POSTed is given below:
{:datacapture=> {:primarykey=>"student@example.com", :data=> [{:label=>"Email", :response=>"student@example.com"}, {:label=>"Name", :response=>"Alex Morgan"}]}, :attempt=> {:id=>13, :quizid=>99, :quiztitle=>"Capital City Quiz", :createdat=>Wed, 23 Jun 2021 08:38:52.000000000 UTC +00:00, :startedat=>Wed, 23 Jun 2021 08:30:39.000000000 UTC +00:00, :completedat=>Wed, 23 Jun 2021 08:31:14.000000000 UTC +00:00, :totalscore=>2, :totalpossible=>3, :questions=> [{:question=>"What is the Capital of Nigeria", :result=>"correct"}, {:question=> "The capital city of Kazakhstan is [blankstart]Nur-Sultan[blank_end].", :result=>"incorrect"}, {:question=>"The capital of Australia is Sydney", :result=>"correct"}]}}Once you have this data you can use this to kick-off any custom processing that you need. Perhaps you want to email the visitor, issue them a certificate if they have achieved a the pass score or even send them follow-up content based on the particular questions which they got incorrect. The list goes on, and is limited only by your imagination.

What is a SmartEmbed?
A SmartEmbed is a link or embedded url generated on GoConqr with a data capture form.
This allows you to share material on your own site or blog and capture each participants details and results.
Participants get direct access to the material no log in or sign required. You get reporting on each participants interactions with the material. All GoConqr material and branding is removed from the SmartEmbed link.
SmartEmbeds are part of the Teacher plan. For more information on the Premium+ plan, see here.
How do I get started with SmartEmbeds?
SmartEmbeds allow a GoConqr user to embed a quiz or course on their own website and add a form to enable data capture and performance tracking. You must have a Teacher plan to use SmartEmbeds. Access SmartEmbeds on the left-hand side menu of the home page.
In order to create a SmartEmbed, you will need to have some content to share: a quiz or a course. These are easy to create using GoConqr’s tools.
When you have created content, you can add a form – by selecting ‘insert data capture form’ in a quiz, or selecting the ‘data capture form’ template in a course. Learn more about data capture forms here.
Access the SmartEmbed management area and select ‘Create Link’ for a Course, or for a Resource. Select a piece of content with a data capture form. You will then be prompted to name the Embed link name (e.g. Contact page embed). We will generate a code that you can use – a url you can link to and an i-frame you can use to insert on your blog or webpage.
The content link will be immediately active - that is open to receive submissions once you share it. Your SmartEmbed management area shows all active items, all your SmartEmbed codes, dates activated and the number of submissions received. You can also access reports on submissions by clicking the piechart next to an embed link. There are two sets of information you are interested in – the results from users who have taken your course or quiz, and the data in the forms they have submitted. You can export this data separately or as one spreadsheet.

What is a Share List?
A Share List is a saved list of recipients to send a SmartLink to.
Creating a Share List is a simple way to send material to the same group of people numerous times. The ShareList will contain the email addresses and names of the people you wish to SmartLink to.
Users can be added to a ShareList by adding manually or uploading a csv file.
To create a ShareList, click ‘Create List’ in your SmartLinks management area. Give the list a name, then add the relevant information or upload via csv file.
You can edit your lists at any time and they will be available to use whenever you create a new SmartLink.
What is a Data Capture form?
A data capture form is a form that you add to a quiz or course to enable you to collect information and track progress of users via a SmartEmbed. Simply select to add a data capture form when editing a quiz or course. Note that you will only be able to add one form to each quiz or course.
When you add your form you include a description that respondents will see (describe why you would like them to fill in a form). You can specify from a section of response types
- Short text: Ideal for short information such as name, job title
- Email: selecting this will verify that respondents give a correctly formatted email address
- Date: allows users to select date from a calendar
- Text paragraph: allows the user to input a short paragraph response to your prompt
- Multiple Choice Dropdown: you can specify responses for your respondents to choose from.
- Multiple Choice Checkbox: you can specify responses and allow respondents to select more than one.
You can include a link if you need to refer respondents to additional information or terms, and use a checkbox response type to confirm agreement.
You can change where the form appears in your quiz or course by moving it in the left hand side bar. Note that the form will only be displayed when the content is displayed through a SmartEmbed link.
