Negative Prefixes
ADJECTIVES can often take a negative prefix such as un-, in-, or, less often, dis-. The prefix in- is usually spelled im- before m or p, (impractical), ir- before r (irrational) and il- before l (illogical).
Negative forms of VERBS may take un- (unwrap), dis- (discredit), mis- (misunderstand) or, often prefixed to a noun, de- (deforest).
