Future Plans

To talk about future plans, you can use two tenses: the near future tense or the pure future tense

To form the near future tense, you take your pronoun, the correct conjugation of the verb aller, which is ALWAYS followed by the infinitive of the verb you would like to use

Je vais aller au cinéma - I'm going to go the cinema

Tu vas jouer aux jeux de sociétés - You are going to play board games

Il/elle/on va maîtriser la langue français - He/she/you are going to master the French language

Nous allons faire nos devoirs - We are going to do our homework

Vous allez arroser les fleurs - You are going to water the flowers

Ils/elles vont télécharger de la musique - They are going to download music

The equivalent of the pure future tense in English is 'I will...'

To form the pure future tense for the 1st person singular, take the pronoun je, which is followed by the infinitive form of the verb, then add -ai onto the end of the verb

If your verb is an -re verb, take the -e off the end then add -ai

Je prendrai une année sabbatique - I will take a gap year

Je travaillerai dans un bureau - I will work in an office

There are some irregular stems in the pure future tense

aller - j'irai à la faculté - I will go to university

faire - je ferai un apprentissage - I will do an apprenticeship

être - je serai infirmier - I will be a nurse

J'irai à la faculté - I will go to university

Je continuerai mes études - I will continue studying

Je quitterai le collège - I will leave school

Je ferai un diplôme - I will do a qualification

Je chercherai un emploi - I will look for a job

Je trouverai un métier - I will find a job

Je voyagerai autour du monde - I will travel around the world

J'étudierai les langues étrangères - I will study foreign languages

Je travaillerai dans un bureau - I will work in an office

Je gagnerai un bon salaire - I will earn a good salary

J'espère devenir médecin - I hope to be a doctor

J'irai au lycée technique - I will go to technical school

Je ferai un apprentissage - I will do an apprenticeship

Je serai infirmier/infirmière - I will be a nurse

Je ne sais pas ce que je ferai - I don't know what I will do
