Psychologists
have many different theories to explain attachment, one being the Learning
theory. It is based on the behaviourist’s approach and suggests that all
behaviour is learnt rather than innate. They describe infants as ‘blank slates’
(Tabula Rasa) when they are born and that everything a child becomes can be
explained by the experiences they’ve had. Behaviourists suggest that all
behaviour, including attachment, is learned either through classical or operant
conditioning.
