- 1Flat File DatabaseAll data is contained in one table/ file
- 2Primary KeyField which is a unique identifier for each record. A file may have only one primary key.
- 3Relational DatabaseTwo or more files are linked together. Reduces unnecessary duplication of Data.
- 4Foreign KeyThe primary key from another file, used to link files.
- 5Presence checkEnsures field cannot be left empty (good validation for a primary key)
- 6Restricted ChoiceThe user is presented with a list of options to choose from (using a drop-down menu, option buttons or similar)
- 7Length CheckEnsures an appropriate number of characters is input (e.g. minimum of 8 characters, maximum of 20)
- 8Range CheckUsed on numeric fields to ensure number is within certain range (e.g. between 0 and 100)
