Cards in this deck (22)
- 1Stores the programs, parts of the operating system and the files currently being usedRAM
- 2Stores all the programs, operating systems and files needed for the computer system to runHard Drive
- 3Fetches, decodes and executes data and/or instructionsCPU
- 4The number of processors in the CPU which run the fetch decode execute cycle at the same timeCores
- 5How many times the CPU can perform the fetch decode execute cycle per secondClock Speed
- 6The speed measurement used for a CPUHertz
- 7Data is written and read with a laser. CDs, DVDs and Blu-Ray are examples of this type of storageOptical Storage
- 8Data is stored by magnetising the surface of flat, circular plates called platters. These platters rotate at a very high speed.Magnetic Storage
- 9Uses microchips to store data instead of magnetised disks and do not contain any moving partsSolid State Storage
- 10The amount of data a component can hold (measured in bytes)Capacity
- 11How robust/hard wearing the storage device isDurability
- 12How easy the storage device can be used on other devicesPortability
- 13How fast a component can read or write data to another component (such as the RAM and hard drive)Read/ Write Speed
- 14Good Value for MoneyCost Effective
- 152 processors in the CPUDual Core
- 164 processors in the CPUQuad Core
- 17To store instructions or data that is frequently used, previously used or next to be usedCache
- 18Used to allow more programs or data to be loaded when the RAM is insufficientVirtual Memory
- 19Storage used for a computer system to save data, even when there is no power connected to it.Secondary Storage
- 20All of the parts inside the computer system to make it work.Computer Component
- 21Data is deleted from the component when there is no power connected.Volatile
- 22Data is not deleted from the component when there is no power connected.Non Volatile
